Swindon broke the 10,000 fans barrier for the second time this season as 10,021 packed into the County Ground to see Eric Sabin return to the County Ground wearing a QPR shirt.
After pressure on both goals Swindon came the closest to scoring first when Tommy Mooney's header in the bar on 30 minutes after a Robinson cross.
On 38 minutes Mooney hit the bar again, it wasn't clear if the ball then bounced down and crossed the line or not, but no goal was given.
A minute later Swindon's pressure was rewarded with a Sam Parkin goal. Parkin who signed his new two and a half year contract on Friday when his header beat the advancing QPR keeper to fall into the back of the empty net following a pass from Gurney.
Eric Sabin played poorly for QPR throughout the first half, and Swindon didn't give him a chance to run with the ball. Sabin had already picked up a yellow card in the first half before he was taken off at half time.
Swindon were the better team if the first half, but QPR came out in the second half looking the better side, and it looked like it was only going to be a matter of time before they scored.
Steve Robinson was taken off injured mid way through the second half. He managed to limp to the end of the pitch before having to be taken by stretcher back to the changing room. He was replaced by Andrew Nicholas.
QPR finanally scored on 79 minutes with a close range shot by Martin Rowlands.
Both sides had chances to win the ball in the last 10 minutes by the score remained 1-1.
Overall the 1-1 draw was a fair result with Swindon being the better side in the first half. At half time people in the back of the Nationwide Stand was saying it was the best game they had seen all season.
Swindon's next game was away to Hartlepool, the longest away trip of the season next Saturday. Swindon have now moved up a place to 9th in the table.
