The first minute was all Swindon, and Swindon got a free kick on the edge of the area which was taken by Brown, but saved by the Macclesfield 'keeper. It was also Macclesfield's first touch of the ball.

Sofiene Zaaboub was taken off on a stretcher on 12 minutes, although he should be back in action in the next couple of weeks. He was replaced by Paul Evans.

Macclesfield took the lead on 27 minutes when John Murphy headed in frm close range following a Macclesfield corner.

On 52 minutes Paul Ince's men doubled their lead when they were given a corner when he should have been a goal kick. Danny Swailes scored again from close range knocking the ball under Phil Smith for the ball just to cross the line.

Macclesfield nearly scored an own goal on 63 minutes. It was one of Swindon's best goal scoring chances, but their header went just over and out for a corner, which Lee Peacock scored from agsin from close range.

Lukas Jutkiewicz came close to scoring for Swindon forcing Macclesfield 'keeper to make a couple of good saves.

Phil Smith also helped to keep the score down making a couple of good saves at the other end.

Blair Sturrock had come on for Swindon replacing Paul Evans, and Andy Nicholas had also come on to replace Aaron Brown, but overall it was a poor display from Swindon. Macclesfield didn't look like anything special, but took their chances and came away with a 2-1 win. Swindon now play on Tuesday with a 3pm kick off against Wycombe at the County Ground.
