Swindon started fairly well with both Sam Parkin and Sammy Igoe coming close for Swindon early on. Then on 22 minutes Roberts missed a good chance to put Swindon into the lead on the longest away trip of the season.

It was Hartlepool who took the lead on 31 minutes when Porter was able to score from inside the area after a Hartlepool free kick.

Swindon then came close to getting an equaliser when Sean O'Hanlon passed the ball the Sammy Igoe who's long distance shot beat the 'keeper but hit the bar.

At the half time break £5 gift vouchers were handed out as a thank you for making the 280 mile trip north. 271 Swindon fans had made the trip up.

Butler scored Hartlepool's second goal shortly after half time with a close range effort.

Grant Smith put in a good cross for Swindon, and the ball rolled across about 5 yards in front of the goal line, but there was no Swindon player in the area able to put the ball into the back of the net.

Swindon also hit the bar again with a shot from Sammy Igoe mid way through the second half.

Rory Fallon came on off the bench replacing Christian Roberts. Fallon came close to scoring himself, only to have his shot saved by the Hartlepool 'keeper.

Then on 83 minutes Hartlepool, who had been beaten 3-0 at the County Ground back in August went 3-0 up with a goal from Humphreys.

Overall Swindon should have taken at least a point from this game as they had chances, but were unable to score. Hartlepool didn't look 3 goals better than Swindon, but did take there chances, and they could have had more as Rhys Evans was forced to make a number of good saves through out the game.

Swindon's next game in at home to Walsall next saturday as they look to try and get their play off hopes back on track.
