Blackpool 1 Swindon Town 1

A second half equaliser from Darius Henderson saw Colin Hendry yet again denied the chance to celebrate his first victory as Blackpool manager.

The Seasiders were boosted before the game with the signing of Everton and England under-21 defender Peter Clarke who made his debut two years after first turning out for the club on loan.

That lifted the home side who enjoyed the better of a hard fort first half. Skipper Rick Wellens returned to the side and along with another debutant Dean Gorre, who replaced Martin Bullock after just 15 minutes he provided a creative cutting edge to the Blackpool midfield.

It was Wellens who played in leading scorer Scott Taylor on 32 minutes and a good finish from the striker made it 1-0.

For Swindon midfielder Sammy Igoe attempted to keep his side going despite being a target to the Bloomfield Road boo boys who lambasted him every time he touched the ball after an incident in last year's game between the two sides which saw Wellens sent off.

The visitors created few opportunities but finally carved out an equaliser on 68 minutes.

Loan man Darius Henderson showed why Swindon boss Andy King is so keen to secure his permanent signature, holding off a challenge from Leam Richardson before slotting home from the tightest of angles.
